Post-Gustav Ship Island

Overall, not too much has changed. Lots of debris on the west end.

Lots of erosion and stumps on the east end.

An artsy shot to break things up.

Some really interesting erosion occured near the dunes. Look at how the black sand was exposed, and this reddish water is slowly flowing from the dunes. I'm assuming the rust color is caused by tannic acid, much like in our coastal rivers and creeks.

Ever wonder how you get a travel trailer on a barrier island. Well, now you know. Here is the park service loading one up and taking it back to shore.

They pushed it on with this.

There it goes.

Stuck in the sand.
